That is a terrific question. I have met some of them, including mothers, wives and daughters of men who have been executed.

This is a group within Murder Victims' Families for Human Rights, called "No Silence, No Shame." You can read editorials and stories about them at this website.
I can say that families of men on death row or executed suffer grief just as others do but are also stigmatized as no one else is.

It is also interesting that among families of murder victims are those who oppose the death penalty because it creates new victims. At hearings of the New Jersey Death Penalty Study Commission, witnesses who lost family members to murder talked about this.
