I was wondering if you could buy a cell phone on ebay and then have it activated for your number at the verizon store? Someone told me verizon won't do it unless you buy it from them or it could be a knock off or something.. so I'm confused

best to go to the store you's "like" to activate it at. A friend of mine bought a Gunmetal Razr off the net and activated it through Cingular like a week b4 they started selling them. get your info fresh from the source!

If you're in Canada you definitely can't do that. In the US, maybe depending on what service provider you're dealing with - Verizon - not sure.
