There is a chance that you won't be able to. I know when I was in college in PA, they drilled it into outr heads that one screw up, even if we got caught with underage drinking, that we better start changing our major. I had a friend that got caught for that, and did change her major. She tried to fight it, but no districts would hire her. Good luck, but you may want to look into something else. Plus, do you really want your school kids asking if you ever did drugs (like when they have DARE), and you either have to lie or say yes I did Marijuana?

Most school districts will have you sign a fingerprint card and do a background check. I have had a check for every school I taught in. You must get that record "expunged". Its been five years and it should be successful. Expungement wont erase the record but will change the plea to not guilty and the case will be dismissed. You can then legally state on your application that you have never been arrested.
You cant teach anywhere reputably and not have that background check
Good luck

Many districts now conduct background checks and will find out. You may luck out with a small district that don't have the time or resources to conduct full background checks. Either way don't lie about it. It would be bad to start teaching, get close to the students, and then have to leave or get fired because of a past incident.

Judging by most of the sicko teachers we have out here now, probably. Do you have any child molestation in your record, if so then you are a shoe in. They hopefully will do a background check on you before they hire you at a schoolhouse and I doubt they will hire you unless you go to some sorry school that doesn't check anything.

All school districts need teachers. You could easily get a job in a low income district.

If you're honest about it and show that you have completely turned around, you'll probably have a chance. If you try to hide it, though, and they do a background check, that would be bad.
