I am 4 feet 11 inches, weigh 13 stone almost and have size 36F bra. Problem is I have ankle problems anyway and it feels like all my weight on the top half of me is compressing my knees and ankles, thereby making them click and feel like they're being squeazed. I'd luv to get hold of some crutches cuz I think I'd be able to do more with it if I had some to lean on. I'm also blind and my ankle bucks me off it on the smallest holes in the pavement so I am extremely fed up. Anyone got any ideas? Sorry to dump here butdon't think my doctor can help.

You don't need a prescription for crutches. You can just go to a pharmacy and buy them, or order them online. But I don't think they'd help. Crutches are designed for you to take your weight of one leg because it's injured, so you're alternating between the crutches and the good leg. They wouldn't move quite right for what you're thinking of. What you'd actually want would be some kind of a walker as that would allow you to take some of the weight off *both* legs.

Also, if your weight is starting to interfere with your day-to-day life then it might be time to consider trying to lose weight. Talk to your doctor about how to do that in a way that will be healthy and effective.

If he won't, and you still want them, you can pick up a pair for 2 or 3 dollars - certainly no more than $10 at a thrift shop and buy a new set of pads for the tops at a drug store or medical supply place. (I am presuming that you have similar stores where you are - England? Canada?) Or you might want to try a "walker". That way, the wheels on the front will encounter any bumps, holes or other obstacles before your feet do. Crutches might be a bit hazardous if you can't see where you are going, but a "walker" could serve almost the same function as a white cane, while still giving you the frame to lean your weight on. while you are walking.
These, too can be found in thrift stores very cheaply priced (under $10) or even new in some types of variety marts for under $100.
They have them that are just a frame to lean on with wheels on the front, some with baskets so you can carry things and shop with them and they have models with fold-down seats on them so you can stop and rest.

Don't mean to be nasty but the best thing you can do is lose weight. Your doctor can help.
I speak from experience. Having been registered disabled with osteo arthritis i was unable to work. My weight ballooned.
You can get walking aids anywhere. I know pain can get you down but we are in control of our own lives. I have dieted and lost a lot of weight, still a long way to go but i feel the benefit now.
Please don't be a slave to your health problems; i understand how difficult it can be. You can master this if you want to.
Choice is yours love.X

Your doctor will be able to help but it may not be what you want to hear. He will tell you to lose weight. It certainly sounds like your weight is the cause of your ankle problems by putting pressure on the joints.
