SCAM! If it were legitimate you would receive a certified letter.

I receive those emails several times a week!

It doesn't matter if these two exist, that doesn't prove anything.

First, if you are a benefactor, or a potential one, then you will be contacted in writing through the mail on official letterhead and NEVER online on through email.

Second, if you are contacted through the mail and it looks official, then it may still be fake. If spelling is bad or grammer or there are other obvious errors then it's fake and a scam.

Third, if you can't find any obvious errors, is may still be a scam. If it asks you to pay ANY money in ANY way, it is a scam. If it offers to send you money and have you send fees of ANY sort back after you recieve it then it is a scam. If it asks for personal information like bank account numbers, social security numbers, or other personal information that could be used to defraud you then it is a scam.

Fourth, if none of the above is true and it looks like it may be legitimate, then there will be one last test. If it asks you to have your lawyer contact them, rather than you contacting them yourself, then it is probably legitimate and you should have your lawyer (get one if necessary) contact them - don't do it yourself. If it asks you to contact them, then it may still be a scam, so you should get an attorney to look at it rather than risk it yourself.

Remember that any time you are in a position to inherit or receive a decent sum of money there will always be lawyers involved on the other end. If there are not, it's a fraud. If there are then you'll need one too... and probably a good accountant.

If something appears to be to good to be true it usually is.

I receive such scams as you've described around six times a day. Much of them come from countries in Africa, but some have originated in the U.K. and other European countries. The scam is always about some poor widow or widower having lost their family icon to death or revolt and with no place to send their funds for safekeeping until they can get to the States. The businesses are usually diamond mines or other such lucrative entrepreneurships that the attorney or representative has singled you out for its sole beneficiary, regardless that you are no kin to the poor deceased.

They always promise a 15% or even 20% commission for you to keep just to send them your bank account number. When that happens you're ruined for life.

Simply delete the e-mail and move on.

Every single day via email I win a never-heard-of-much-less-entered lottery, or seem to be the only heir of an unheard of dead person, or someone I've never met wants to trust me with several millions of their dollars if I will supply them with my banking information. I think it's the devil trying to steal my soul for cash. He is relentless.

Scam. They usually say you are the only relative they could locate....and how did they find you?...

I get them all the time saying my great uncle Slider died...

Slider isnt even my real name.

think about it
are you really that gullible?
out of the blue comes and email saying you are in line to a small fortune.. all you have to do is give your personal info out....
do you really think that's how it works?
