Is this a coolant problem? The thermostat on your particular vehicle sits DIRECTLY underneath the rad cap. You could check to see if it's stuck open yourself, WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. Is there sufficient coolant in the engine? Do you have any coolant leaks? The temperature control on your particular uses a simple cable setup, NOT an electronic blend door actuator that a lot of vehicles use today. When you turn the temperature control knob between the hot and cold positions, do you "feel" resistance in the movement of the control? Or does it turn freely, as if nothing is connected to it?

If the coolant is low it cant get to the heater WHEN EVER YOU OPEN THE RADIATIR DO IT WHEN THE MOTOR IS COLD!!!!!!!! the cooling sym is under pressure when the engine is hot you can be BURNED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a feeling this is not your problem but it is the first thing that comes to mind. Good luck
