Hi, I am writing a story about two columbine copycat boys, I was wondering if it would be wrong to publish it? It's still in the beginning phases, Originally I wrote it to release my emotions, but I added advice for people who get bullied and if it does get published I want to donate the money to anti-violence, and suicide prevention programs. Do you think it would offend the families of the victims if it was published? I have gotten grief because of the story, makes me wonder if I should keep working on it.

Keep working on your story!! Many times the best work an author does is opposed or criticized by folks for no reason other than their belief it's not appropriate.

I feel reasonable certain the victim's families would bear no ill will, & oerhaps even encourage the work you are attempting, particularly w a commitment to donate profits for anti violence causes.

Bowling for Columbine raises some interesting questions, tho it offers few answers, & targets some for blame without justification (like Dick Clark)

I too would be pleased to read your work, & as a former editor offer comments if it would be helpful. I can be emailed via this site. Good Luck!!

If what you say is true, I can only say, "no, I didn't know that". That being said, it's not only the Christians that "take advantage of tragedies" as you put it. Let a Christian commit some heinous act and the atheists and non-believers are all over it. I think it's more our human nature that we sometimes take things as face value without researching it. Christians can fall into that trap as well.
