hello im looking for the appropiate name for the things that holds the hood, everycar is got two one on each side, please help me

It is a "Hood Hinge".

Hood struts. They will resemble a bicycle pump without the handle and only smaller in size. Not all cars are featured with this hood support system. Most cars still use the hinge styled supports.

hood struts. most auto parts stores should have them in stock. not hard to install. 5 minutes a side.

the one on my van is called a prop rod. it's says so under the hood

they are called pistons..hood pistons..you can buy them at any auto parts store ..and they are easy to replace the just pop off once you remove the safety tab..
