What were the social consequences of European expansion?

Colonization of the Americas made European leaders richer and essentially gave them more power which inturn made ordinary citizens less powerful. The biggest? Slavery became very prevalent during that time of colonization. Free labor saves a lot of money and takes away decent jobs from citizens.
