In college, you would want to take political science and philosophy courses, as well as as many writing courses you can get your hands on. You will also want to take courses in the classics department, such as Roman Civilization or Greek Civilization. You will also need do well in Macroeconomics, I would suggest at least one advanced ECON class like macro or statistics. If you want to do anyting in national politics, I'd suggest making sure you have at least one solid language skill.

You should take Political Science and maybe some philosophy and public speaking courses as well. Anything that not only gets you in tune with the political machine, but classes that make you think and help you work on your social skills.

then you have classes on the governmental process
civics and such
Business, Debate
or just become the CEO of a billion dollar company worked for Chaney, Johnson, Perot, etc.etc.
