my last boyfriend broke up with me on v day. i was obsessing over the perfect gift, and i finally got him something perfect. but then the day came around, and i was obessing over wat to wear and BAM!!! i forgot the gift. and at school, he gave me a diamond necklace. my gift was not as good. i started crying saying i couldn't take the gift. and he just stood there and said: where is my present. and i said that i left it at home, but i wasn't giving anyway cuz it was not good. then he called me a s*lut and said i was scatterbrained. so much i couldn't even get a guy i good gift. i asked for the necklace back. and it wasn;t real. i broke it rite in front of him and said we were over!!! later that day, i got a new bf. and i've been his girlfriend ever since.....................

Sometimes, it is hard to live up to all the romance that you see portrayed everywhere. And sometimes you feel a bit silly trying to be lovey-dovey simply because it is Valentine's Day. The sweetest things my boyfriend does are not candy, card or flower-related, but just thoughtful gestures like jumping out of bed and making me coffee. He doesn't even drink coffee.

I once got a Valentine's card from a guy with a gift certificate for AAA road service. I was upset because it wasn't what I thought was a "proper" Valentine's gift. He was surprised at my reaction and explained that he wanted me to be safe so that I would always come home to him. In his own way, he was very romantic but it certainly wasn't the Hollywood version of romance.

I really think that it is more important to care for someone and be kind and gentle with their feelings all year round than to buy them candy or pink teddy bears just because it is Valentine's Day.
