In a nutshell, in 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up a seat on a bus to a white man. She was arrested, a 381 day boycott of the Montgomery, AL., bus systems followed, In November 1956, the Supreme Court ruled that segregation on transportation was unconstitutional.

I learned about her in computer class(if you can believe this) she was the black lady who stood her stand on the bus. She wouldn't give her set up for a white person. For more facts maybe search Yahoo!
