At the time Iran had a state of the art equipped Air Force with US trained air crews. Iran had 50 air-to-air kills during the first six months of the Iran - Iraq war with zero loses.

Iran would likey had given up the hostages if the US threatened war, but the incident would not have prevented Saddam from invading Iran in 1980. I think there is a chance we may have to end up fighting Iran one way or another. Though the whole Muslim world would likely respect us a bit more.

If he had the balls to kick AIPAC out of Washington, no would not have a problem with Iran or Iraq today.

We would have had a problem with Iran no matter what. Eventually human beings get tired of having foreign governments control their country. Even Americans.
If America could MYOB it would have less countries that hate it.
