I was reading a copy of guitar legends magazine and came across the number one rule in rock n' roll.....so, there is an actual answer to this question....well, according to this magazine anyway. Though, I think a lot of you may agree.
What do you think it is?

Rock n' Roll is a black slang for having sex
Therefore if the music you are listening to doesn't put you in that frame of mind it's not Rock n' Roll
' Cause we were reeling , rocking, rolling 'til the break of dawn " C. Berry
More:
I'm not sure about the Keith Richards remark
As I recall during the making of Hail! Hail! Rock n'Roll , Keith Richards tapped Chuck Berry on the shoulder and Chuck turned around and slugged him.
Don't piss Chuck Berry off

Don't care what anybody thinks if they don't like what you play/listen to then screw them. I'm Gothic and I sing/write/soon to be recording rock/heavy metal songs and the number one thing i think is don't care what people think about it, some may like it and some may not you just have to remember that what you are doing may not get to some peoples hearts and heads but the people it does effect they're hard core and larger than life HECK YEAH!!!!

Actors are not rock stars or vice versa (except Bowie, he's permitted)... or if the most important member of the band has left, the name of the band has to change.
