The only way to find out is to go for it. I did, and I discovered along the way that I didn't want it badly enough to keep going, so I found something else to do. But I spent 15 very happy years doing regional theatre, dinner theatre, industrial films, etc. You're young; you have plenty of time to change direction if you find you can't handle the uncertainty of an acting career. But if you don't try, you'll spend the rest of your life wondering "what if?"

And by the way, you can make a very nice life as an actor without becoming famous. If you want the work, it's out there. If you're only after the fame, rethink what you're doing and go after another career.

No offense but I pretty much agree with answer one in wondering why you ask us. I suspect you know more about you than we can, and certainly to follow ones dream is valid. I'm going to assume that beyond High School, you can still be involved in the crafts as you proceed with furthering your education, so that as you say, SOMETHING to fall back on.

To more directly answer the Q,,, Trust in the fact that rejection is part of the process. If you can accept it not as a personal attack and learn from it, you may find work. Also consider this, "Success" is relative. What might be for you isn't to say that it will be for someone else.

Follow your Dream!

But don't go into it blind. Here are some resources that are a MUST!

Read this book before you do anything! It is the best book at looking at this whole entertainment industry with a level head. Too many of us go into the "BIZ" with our heads in the clouds and forget it is a business!

Do what you want. Why are you even asking this from others, especially on lame-*** Yahoo Answers?

Do your own thing. Don't be a sheep.
