I had 2 cesareans and you will still bleed quite heavily. My doctor suggested waiting for at least 2 months "healing time" A cesarean is not a joke and you will have pain in the area of the c-section for a while. While every woman is different, here is some info. You'll be recovering from major abdominal surgery. C-section patients typically stay three or four days in the hospital before going home. Vaginal bleeding and discharge should diminish though it may last up to six weeks.Avoid lifting anything heavier than your baby for eight weeks. You'll be able to resume sexual intercourse in four to six weeks if you're feeling comfortable enough, with your doctor's okay. I still have pain 7 yrs later in my scar area from time to time. The muscles are not quite ever the same after 2 especially !! After my first, the incision actually opened..just lifting the baby .. now THAT was gross.. all kinds of ick just oozing out. In the end, it's your call. When you feel up to it. If you're going to try, then I suggest the first time, go gently and make your partner aware that you may have to stop.

It depends on how you feel. I had a c-section six weeks ago, and started having sex about a week after my lochia stopped, which was week 3. You may not bleed as much as a natural childbirth, but then again you may. Sex will hurt the first few times though, you need to take it easy. I even had an infected incision because the glue fell off too early and I am a smoker. Even though my doctor had three other patients who had infected incisions that week. But we were all smokers, so of course that was it... Note the sarcasm. Remember to use a condom after birth, it's the most fertile period you'll ever have. The lube helps too. Good luck! **** To rate a question, click on my Q&A, in the green bar at the top of the page. You are supposed to wait six weeks, even though your vagina wont be damaged, you dont want to pull your stitches in your stomach, however i did it after only two weeks and it wasnt too painful, but your stomach feels pretty bruised.
You will still be bleeding for a while afterwards, i dont know if its as much as you do from a natural birth because ive only had a csection, but there was heavy bleeding for the first few days.
advice: stay in hospital as long as you can, especially if you dont have someone to be at home and help you afterwards.

I agree with Michelle, 6-8 weeks. I've had 3 c-sections, my last just 2 1/2 weeks ago will be the last one. Trust me, you probably won't feel like it for awhile, and it won't be a good thing if your pain meds wear off and you hurt like crazy after. It'd be better to wait the 6-8 weeks and ease into it than have to wait longer because you hurt yourself: )

You will not feel like doing the wild thing when you have a piss bag and stitches, trust me! That's only for a day or two though, after that you will be bleeding and you will have a lot of abdominal pain. Walking will feel a bit odd and you wont sleep well. You will also have a screaming new infant who you will love so much that you would rather watch them sleep than do anything else.
When you finally feel up to sex, you will feel a bit fragile and you will keep thinking of your baby and feeling guilty for enjoying yourself.....welcome to motherhood!

Are you pregnant?
Wait the 6 weeks, wait longer, cuz its gonna hurt like the dickens, and no matter where that baby left from, the entire area hurts, not to mention the lack of sleep you will be suffering from, and the lovely gaping hole in your gut. Sure - feels sexy!
