During tennis matches if I get set up for and easy forehand and the opponent is at the net I will hit the ball as hard as I can at them. It doesn't feel right, but that is what our coach teaches us to do. I can easily hit passing shots down the allies, but it is a little easier to just rip it straight at them, so hard that it either hits them or isn't returned. Should I keep aiming for them or what?

In this case, this is more about your conscience.
Hell, I've played "skins" all the time (playing to hit someone) but..

I say, go with what wins and what doesn't cloud your conscience. By the fact that you question this method already, shows that you have some guilt to show.

Sometimes it IS the right shot to go right at them, it cuts down the angles at which the net player can cut the ball off and angle it for a winner. Again, go with what wins but mind you, you'll know when it wasn't right to rail a shot at someone when you could have passed them.

Its up to you. Hope this helps.

If you're lucky, then it will work well. But as you face more experienced players, they will be smart enough to just stick their racquet out and have the ball bounce short in the service box. I suggest that you start developing your lob and/or your passing shot, so they will have to work in order for a good chance at getting a good shot.

thats funny, lol i used to do the same exact thing in H.S. it used to work all the time they either get scared and move from the ball or they miss hit it. there's nothing wrong with that! In college is a different story you can get away with it acouple of time but you either got to hit a passing shot or lob it.. good luck!!!

continue aiming for them cos u r just trying to win a point,u r not killing anybody.if u saw the nadal-kohlschreiber match u would have seen the shots/volleys kohl hit hard straight at nadal.it isnt wrong cos every point is important in a match.
