I am using Windows XP. I know that I can adjust it from power options so that it turns off after some minutes of no activity. But I want to know the way to disable and enable it immediately whenever I want. I had an fn+F key shortcut at my previous laptop, however no fn+F combination works for this one.

* I want to turn the display off only while it continues to work -> No htandby or hibernate.

Fn + F8 (CRT/LCD) toggles you back and forth... Now if you had a CRT the screen shots would go there...

If you hold power button down for 4 or 5 seconds it will usually wake the computer up from hibernation.
