A few things to look into would be running some fuel injector cleaner through your gas tank. I'd recommernd Lucas, or seafoam. After that, you want to change your fuel filter. Changing your air filter would also be a good idea at this point. Depending on how many miles you have on the engine, if it is under 100K, I'd also use seafoam through the intake manifold. This will clean all the carbon out of your combustion chambers, clean valves, basically the complete top end of your engine. It is simple to use, you just find a vaccuum hose attached to the intake manifold, like the brake booster line, and suck it in slowly while the car is idling. Once, half of the can is gone, shut the car off, let is sit a few minutes, start it up and there will be lots of white smoke, from the carbon being cleaned out, and the seafoam burning. Rev engine until white smoke is gone, and its done. I'd change spark plugs after this just in case on was fouled.
Most likely your problem was in one of those areas, and if one of them fixed your problem, your engine should run like new.

When you say Hesitating, do yo mean almost shutting off? If so, it could be one of several things. Expalin to the dealer or car mechanic exactly what is happening. The mechanic will most likely check your carburator or fuel injection system. Most modern cars nowadays have fuel injection. Your fuel injection syste could be clogged or dirty. Or It could be that the "idle setting" on your carburator is too low, causing your car to attempt a shut off when your're idling at a light. And then it just might be your fuel filter too. Air filters when not changed after a long period of time, can also cause idling problems. You wont know for sure until you take your car to the mechanic.

you might check the fuel injectors, or tune the carb depending on how it's aspirated.
