Ok I'm a pretty experienced bass player but nothing is really challenging to me. I really like hard rock and metal. I know RHCP have awesome bass so dont post that. I want something thats sounds cool, is pretty fast, but blends with the guitar well.(For instance not like Money by Pink Floyd).

One of These Days by Pink Floyd is fun. Two chords, but it blends well- and you could do it with a recording or with one of your bass playing buddies. There's good guitar in it. Also try Hotel California by The Eagles. It has a very distinctive bass line that sounds a little southwestern. Each measure has nine changes (if I remember correctly, haven't heard it in a while). It goes really well with guitar. If you're up for a challenge (but not a really fast one), try Hey You. You need a fretless bass for it.

I know it's not hard rock or metal, but it's all I know.

Rage Against the Machine has some good bass lines- a lot of times they support the guitar or are complementary to it, but hold a lot of power to them. It's also rock/metal.

AFI, although not as into metal but still rock, has an important bass line in most of their songs, but DO NOT listen to their new album Decemberunderground for the bass lines. Try "The Art of Drowning" or "Black Sails in the Sunset." Happy playing!

Try listening to some early Grateful Dead stuff . In particular the first Live Dead album w/ live St. Stephen
If nothing else it will be good for your ears
