It's not always about who is right. Sometimes you just have to go with what is best for both of you and the baby. Think about it, do you want to call him that when he is 20 years old? How about combine them: Roger Charles Rothermere-Smythe doesn't sound like a bad idea, though you might want to remove the Rothermere: Hint: He might not like that.
"Mrs Smythe said to Ann, My husband's name is Roger Charles Rothermere Smythe....." Get the meaning?" Hint hint, wink wink. Good luck with the new born!

I don't like Roger or Charles. But Poobum Hornytoad is awesome! Just name him that! (Capital H version is best.)
Also, Smythe is easier to pronounce than Smthye.

have one be the first name one be the middle name or you could just start over with a new name try to pick something different that you both like
so either
charles roger or roger charlles
or you could start from scratch and pick a different name that you both like
but on the other hand your wife is the one who went through all that pain through labor so mabey you should let her name him roger then have charles the midde name!!
