They are scam artists. Nothing they do has been scientifically proven except take your money. They were grandfathered into the system long ago, this "medicine" would never be approved today. It was invented by a grocery store stock boy with no more than a high school diploma. Just search the states that have the most liberal PIP laws for auto accidents and you'll find the vast majority of chiropractors are in those states. There's a reason why there is not one single state accredited university in this nation with a school of chiropractic medicine, they're all private and mostly teach you how to bill insurance and not any type of medicine, basically how to just run a corrupt business. They can't even refer you for a basic MRI so please don't call them doctors. They can actually do you more harm than good if you have a herniated or protruded disc which they can't even run diagnostics for.

Then you are poorly educated.

Chiropractors have to go through extensive schooling to get where they are, considering they are playing with one of the most important structure of the human body. Anyone else who tried to attempt what they do can paralyze a person since the spinal column holds the central nervous system.

I don't recommend using chiropractors as a permanent means for back relief, but they are a great asset for realigning the spine which, BTW, provides a more precise channel and open line of communication for your central nervous system. This is crucial to your health and the functions of your entire body.

Believe what you want, but you'll only display your ignorance.

If you want medical treatment go to a real medical doctor. These people are a joke. Why is it that a good majority of chiropractors default on their student loans?

Do you practice the age-old practice of opening mouth-inserting foot? All States and the District of Columbia regulate the practice of chiropractic and grant licenses to chiropractors who meet educational requirements and pass a State board examination. Chiropractors can only practice in States where they are licensed. Some States have reciprocity agreements that permit chiropractors licensed in one State to obtain a license in another without further examination.
Most State licensing boards require completion of a 4-year chiropractic college course following at least 2 years of undergraduate education, although a few States require a bachelor's degree. All State boards recognize academic training in chiropractic colleges accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education.

For licensure, most State boards recognize either all or part of the three-part test administered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. State examinations may supplement the National Board tests, depending on State requirements.

To maintain licensure, almost all States require completion of a specified number of hours of continuing education each year. Continuing education programs are offered by accredited chiropractic colleges and chiropractic associations. Special councils within some chiropractic associations also offer programs leading to clinical specialty certification, called "diplomate" certification, in areas such as orthopedics, neurology, sports injuries, occupational and industrial health, nutrition, radiology, thermography, and internal disorders.

In 1994, 15 of the 17 chiropractic colleges in the United States were accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education. All chiropractic colleges require applicants to have at least 2 years of undergraduate study, including courses in English, the social sciences or humanities, organic and inorganic chemistry, biology, physics, and psychology. Many applicants have a bachelors' degree, which may eventually become the minimum entry requirement. Several chiropractic colleges offer prechiropractic study, as well as a bachelors' degree program.

During the first 2 years, most chiropractic colleges emphasize classroom and laboratory work in basic science subjects such as anatomy, physiology, public health, microbiology, pathology, and biochemistry. The last 2 years stress courses in skeletal manipulation and spinal adjustments and provide clinical experience in physical and laboratory diagnosis, neurology, orthopedics, geriatrics, physiotherapy, and nutrition. Colleges grant the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.).

Chiropractic requires keen observation to detect physical abnormalities. It also takes considerable hand dexterity to perform manipulations, but not unusual strength or endurance. Chiropractors should be able to work independently and handle responsibility. As in other health-related occupations, empathy, understanding, and the desire to help others are desirable qualities for dealing effectively with patients.

This is just a brief description of the requirements for a Chiropractor to obtain a license to practice, as well as keep that license. I hope you never need one, and if you do, that someone somewhere will have read your remarks and tell you to find a vet.

there are people who want to do chiropractic therapy. Thank goodness because they have helped me. Most MD's would write a precription and send me on my way.

A chiropractic adjustment can do wonders for your body, but it sounds like you already have a closed mind to all that so why bother asking the question

You know nothing of their study or commitment to people then. You know nothing of how the body works either. Let people guess at how smart you are rather than remove all doubt of your obvious ignorance.
