nope, to get it going is immediately done. the papers filed, hearing scheduled, amount set... over.
once its opened, some times it takes months for a new hearing, but the first one goes back to the date it was filed, so i would be paying something til then, or you'll end up in the hole.

In Pasco county it takes FOREVER. I have a child support case here and it took 6 months for it to get to court. Then they couldn't find my ex, had no proof of income from him because he worked off the books. Whenever he didn't pay it had to be thirty days before they would do anything, they suspend driver's licenses that are already suspended, threaten them with jail, all it is is a threat, they have told me that. There is no enforcement. When I took him back to court 2 yrs ago, it was again 6 months before there was a court date. The only time I got any action taken with my case was when I wrote to the attorney general then and only then did I get a phone call from a supervisor and things started to happen with my case. It all depends on how backed up your collection agency is in your area and where you fall on the waiting list. This comes down to a lack of qualified employees to help with the cases
