Co-Dependency due to long-term being beaten down by her Abuser, abusive family, alcoholic family member/spouse, drug dependent family member/spouse, or other addictive personality in her life
NOT being valued from an early age .. see too many of these "Kiddie Beauty Contest" participants that are just valued for how they look .. and their ability to enjoy childhood (ie: Play, School, etc) are beaten OUT of them ... not valued, they grow up thinking that the ONLY thing that makes them worth something is the makeup and/or outfits.
Cultural -- if your culture treats girls/women as property ... does not want them educated, sees them only for the benefit of the 'bride price' that they can bring in, then there is no confidence.
Being picked on/verbally, mentally, emotionally abused.
Bullied in school for her 'differences'
Having everything stolen from her when her ex files for divorce .. or the ex steals from her PRIOR to the divorce .. she is not allowed to have ANYTHING that SHE EARNED because the jerk is just that -- an abusive, greedy jerk.
She has NEVER had to do things on her OWN ... whether it is living on her own, working for a living, or doing anything ... she moved from parents' home to spouse/boyfriend's home .. nothing inbetween. She is basically a 'breeder'/'domestic servant' (at best).

Relationships gone bad, family problems as a child/teen, discouragement, failing at something... Often being put down by others or being rejected, even outside of relationships, the list goes on and on. You've gotten some pretty good lists so far, too.

being in a relationship with the wrong person and someone who demoralises her can make her lose her confidence if she stays too long. being around people who does not value her or appreciate her can also make her lose or lack confidence. however more of what can make her lose confident and worse is if she lets it happen without fighting to stop it, cos no one can be put down except they allow it.

When women are homemaker's for too long, they sometimes lose the confidence to go back into the working world.
As some women age, they lose the confidence to face the dating world.

If you grew up with parents who treated you like crap. A child feels like if her parents don't think she's special, then she must not be. That's called emotional abuse, when you belittle, intimidate, or put down a child continuously, they start believing it, and it's hard to ever get over. There is a persistent sadness and lack of confidence in a person who is a victim of emotional abuse.

Immaturity.
Strong, mature women understand that they have the power and nothing, not a darn thing, can eliminate their confidence.
It's all a frame of mind, and mature women, and also mature men for that matter, recognize that they are in control of their thoughts.
