Theres never been a decline in good music, you just have to go and find it for yourself. The radios and tv arent much help since they really only play pop(ular) music. And usually stuff that is popular is similar.. it gets old listening to the same stuff over and over.

Theres many discos and funk bands out there like.. "Men, Women and Children" but like I said, the radio and tvs play stuff thats popular. Disco/funk is popular over in Europe though.

Id say the next musical revolution, in rock, would be post-rock. Its not very big right now, but its good. Its more about the music than anything else.

Rock all the way. Rap is just a bunch of crappy rhymes to go with some poor beats. Nobody cares about some guys hoes, cash, drugs, cars or how he thinks he's a "G". I don't care how many times some moron gets shot, if rap is all you listen to, you wasted money. Look at how many rock legends there are out there... Rolling Stones, Lynrd Skynrd, The Beatles, and the list goes on. The only rap artist that I classify as a legend would be Tupac... and he didn't make any money until after he died. Woop-dee-doo.

Rock is emo, not good. Alternative, now there's music. Nothing else even comes close, rap is probably the worst out of them all. Alternative is awesome, if you don't believe me, check out these bands:
Cold War Kids
Kill Hannah
Alkaline Trio
+44
Green Day
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Cute Is What We Aim For
Taking Back Sunday
The Good, The Bad, and The Queen
The Postal Service
Brand New
The Academy Is...
Bright Eyes
Boys Like Girls

I'm telling you, nothing comes close!!

Most rock bands are not emo, try looking harder, there are other bands besides Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco. And they're not even emo.

Anyway, I prefer rock because it's more than talking fast to a beat.

My advice is to look for more "underground" stuff. I enjoy both genres of music, but I hate everything on the radio. What sells to the masses isn't the kind of stuff that I'm into.

Or just stay loyal to the bands that you love. A couple years ago I had to come to terms with the fact that music had moved beyond my generation and now I'm wondering how long it will be until some of my favorite bands are played on the classic rock station... hopefully quite some time, I don't want to feel that old.

Or just tool around MySpace Music and look up bands by genre until you find something you like. That's worked for me a couple times as well.

But I swear, if I have to hear one more crappy Gwen Stefani or Fergie song, I'm gonna shoot my face off! (That beat wasn't bananas and I don't need you to spell it out for me)

AFI needs to die as well.

It's too easy for people to become artists these days. Back in the day, people use to make music to make statements, and to get noticed, real music sold and the others became one hit wonders. Musicians use to write there OWN music and be passionate about what they were doing, now it's like who can pump out CDs the fastest. It's a shame that almost all bands, groups and musicians these days are SELL OUTS!

Well, we wouldn't have any of it--rock, rap, jazz, pop, hip-hop--without African music (music FROM Africa).

Maybe there will be a revival toward primitivism like there was about 100 years ago in art music. Or maybe we will just keep reinventing minimalism. I kind of hope this is the case.

Rap or Rock? I think Rock. For reasons that might not belong in this post.

ALL cRAP music sucKz BaLlZ! there's no talent needed to rap, all u hav to do iz rhyme bout guns and drugs and ho's!! there's no heart in rap! rock on the other hand takes talent, like playing a REAL instrument not just sampling old beats from old rock songs!!!........plus rock kicks as$ cuz u can smash someone in the jaw during a mosh pit whereas in rap all u do is bob your head and stand there while some dude grinds against your thigh.....RAP IZ CRAP.....ROCK RULES!!!!!!

a group I've always liked but you dont hear too much about is TOOL. they have a heavy, mesmerizing, trippy psychadelic sound. I first heard of them about 8 or 9 yrs ago. you dont hear alot about them but they are high on everyones list that love good sounding guitars and original lyrics, there new album 10,000 days has an interesting story to it. this is the first album out of 4 albums made, produced by the band. this album was done live in the studio, put through digital mixing and tape was also used to record and a new kind of mic the band calls a "pipe bomb mic" that looks like a pipe bomb, to record bass and guitar. they are awesome to see live.

Rap is boring and repetitive. If it were not for music videos, Rap would not have the following it does. The videos are a show piece for these degenerate Rappers to showcase their sexist, racist, violent views. The whole scene is a bad influence on young people today.
