TRICKY TRICKY!
Some products guarantee applies to your lifetime. If you're alive, and the product breaks with normal use, then the company will replace it.
Read the fine print though. Some companies may specify a 'lifetime' for the product, like 5 to 10 years. If It breaks after that, your SOL.

Its all in the fine print. Most guarantee the product due to manufacturer defect. The manufacturer could claim the product was misused. Good luck. I know of 3 manufacturers who really offer a true lifetime guarantee, Zippo Lighters, Craftsman Tools, and L.L.Bean Shoes. They will replace or fix their products with no questions asked.

The Cross Pen company will also fix or replace their pens and mechanical pencils, no questions asked. Just mail it to them. You do not have to prove you bought it, so they have a true lifetime guarantee.

Of course, if a company goes out of business they cannot honor that lifetime guarantee. Also, as already noted, you do have to read the fine print to see whether it means a limited lifetime estimate for the product, your lifetime or the full lifetime of the product as long as it exists (as in the Cross Pens -- if you send them the object itself they will just fix it or replace, as I said).

The product is guaranteed for the life of the purchaser. If it breaks, you can send it back to the maker for either a fix or replacement.

It's guaranteed for life, meaning you can replace the item at no cost to you. The company will replace it free of charge.
