great question.. Yes i would think we should spend more on finding an alternative for oil. War is such a waste of all resources including human life. We need the space program to help us advance in medical technology.

If the Americans spent it on an alternative to oil then there would be no need to spend it on war. They excel at conflict when oil is at stake ? If on the other hand they discover large oil deposits on Mars---------------????

I think we should leave other countries alone to deal with their own problems and yes we need to spend our money on wind and solar tech. and the low cost and low effect of this is the way of the future if we want one.
