1. Rainforest plants have "drip tip" leaves to help the water run off the leaves without weighing the leaves down and breaking them.
2. Plant roots have root hairs to increase the surface area for water absorption.
3. "The Australian water-holding frog is a desert dweller that can wait up to seven years for rain. It burrows underground and surrounds itself in a transparent cocoon made of its own shed skin. " According to http://www.amnh.org/exhibitions/frogs/frogfacts/
4. Kangaroo rats in the U.S. have several adaptations related to lack of water in their habitat:
---"Kangaroo Rats have the ability to convert the dry seeds they eat into water.
---"Kangaroo Rats neither sweat nor pant like other animals to keep cool.
---"Kangaroo Rats have specialized kidneys which allow them to dispose of waste materials with very little output of water."

there are lots of examples of this.

Think lily pads that float on water and grow without soil.

There are also fish that walk on land or mud if there isn't any water to swim in.
