Hello, I am doing a report of whether birth control should be a personal choice, or a choice of public domain. I am asking you this question for your opinion, and the reasons why you have that opinion. Basically, I would like you to state your answer and elaborate as to why you chose your answer.
Note: Public Domain: government controlled, to not have a choice; by law.
I would just like to add, that if birth control were to be enforced, it would be for the issue of "overpopulation."
Thank You.

Birth Control should be a more private matter, and should be a personal one. However, I believe the goverment should help out economically disadvantaged americans who are uninformed, cannot afford, or have difficulty affording birth control as somthing they choose.

There are so many persons out there that are having babies unnecessarily and should or would have been on birthcontrol that just werent for any number of reasons, and there are people out there that think such persons should be mandated to be on birth control.
However, nothing so personal should ever be mandated because there is always another solution for somthing that from the outside looks like a problem sometimes it is for the individual who can't afford a baby or the responsibilty.
If a person wants birth control they should be atteneded the help or opportunity in 100% confidentiality.

For children that "don't want mommie or daddy to find out that they are sexually active" Some kids won't seek birth control out of fear of their parents finding out which can ultimately result in a pregnant kid. Also, some poor kids won't seek birth control because 40$ a month just isn't money they can afford without their parents finding out. Its odd and vicious cycle but had happened to many friends of mine, and is still happening to kids.

Impoverished persons sometimes can't afford the office visits, or don't even know they can get help getting contraceptives if they can'f afford them.

When I was in georgia for a while, I had a friend who worked as a housekeeping for the college I went to. She was only 24 and has 5 kids and works two jobs. She told me she wished she didn't have so many children but she loved all of them. She never went on birth control because she was afraid she would get cancer, or have a stroke, or go into early menopause! . Sometimes unwanted/unnecessary pregnancies happen because too many women are uneducated about birth control!

Men are uneducated about birth control as well. Men are afraid a vesectomy is the same as castration! Or they are afraid it will affect their MANLINESS. When in actuality, newer procedures are near painless, leave no scar due to needle sized tools and lazers, reversibility rate than 10 years ago, no sexual funtion loss, semen remains same color, taste, texture, and look, only absent the babymaking sperm. This is a procedure that if a man wishes and is impoverished should be given some form of heathcare assistance to recieve it.

There are also those who for religious reasons do not take birth control, for such reasons they should not be mandated either since religion is a freedom everyone is entitled to.

If anything regarding birth control should be mantatory, it should be manditory that all persons of all economic levels be fully educated fully in reproductive health, and birth control, and be given the choice to have children not be mandated.

Just like welfare helps those who cannot afford food, there should be programs instituted to help and educate those who cannot afford birthcontrol should they personally choose to pursue birth control/contraceptives.

If the goverment mandated birth control they would have to mandate it for both men and women. Since men make babies as well, and that can be prevented. Since goverment is a majority of men, do you think that they would mandate it equally? It wouldn't be logical. The biological risks to a woman for women's birthcontrol mentods are more severe than birth control methods for men. The worst men have to look towards is never having babies again, women have potential stroke, hearth attack, liver problems, kidney problems, cervical cancer, breast cancer, uteran cancer, hysterectomy. or the need to be on hormones of the rest of her life due to ovarian cancer (having ovaries removed) , and many more. I am not saying these will happen to all women on birth control, but it is somthing to consider since birth contol has been linked to problems in women as they get much older.

Hope this was insightful or helpful.

i think birth control should be of choice, however, if you have a child that is very sexually active...then they should be made to go on the birth control. that may seem harsh but we also know that we can't be with our children 24/7 yes they're are risks, but so is having a child!!!

Mandatory birth control might be a violation of the 8th amendment, cruel or unusual punishment, and it severely reduces the rights and responsibities of women.

The government cannot force you to take drugs, except in the case of innoculation, which is a public policy issue against the spread of disease.

Last time I checked, pregnancy was not a disease, and it wasn't a contagion.

I think it is a personal choice that should be mandated to be available to ANYONE, regardless of age, who desires to have it. That includes permanent measures such as tubal ligation.
