Not counting the weight of the jar....
A new penny weighs 2.5 grams. A penny before 1982 weighs 3.0 grams. Since you probably have a combination of both, I estimated the weights of your pennies at approximately 2.75 grams each. 1 pound = 453.59237 grams. If you multiply 35 times 453.59237, that means you have 15875.73295 grams in your penny jar. 15875.73295 divided by 2.75 means that you have 5772.9938 pennies in your jar. It takes 100 pennies to make a dollar; therefore you have approximately 57-58 dollars in your penny jar. (Sorry...I really love figuring out stuff like that).

Well according to the scale I could locate a penny weighs approx
1/10th of an ounce or .1
So you would take that number and it would take 10 pennies to equal 1oz and there are 16oz in 1lb.
So if that serves correctly it would be 160 pennies in 1lb.
160 Pennies * 35 = 5600 pennies
Or $56 dollars if I am not mistaken.
But you would have to subtract the weight of the jar.

Well, first you measure the weight of one penny. Next, you weigh the jar. Subtract the weight of the jar from 35 pounds and divde that total by the weight of the penny. That'll give you the approximate cost.

To find this out
You need to take out all the pennies from the jar and put in a plastic bag.
Then you weigh the jar, let the weight of the jar is 'X'.
Then you substract X from 35 and the answer you get is let say 'Y' (=weight of the pennies alone).
Now divide Y with 0.00625 (weight of 1 penny is 0.1 ounce=0.00625 pounds).
The answer you get is let say 'Z' (=number of pennies)
Now divide Z with 100 (becuase there are 100 pennies in a dollar).
The answer you get is the number of dollars you got!

If this is a serious question, then you need to know what a penny weighs or, better still, what a $1 in pennies weigh. THEN you can solve your problem.
If this is a trick question then the answer a few lines back solved it.
