Red Sox/ESPN reporter Jim Caple tried cheering for the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium and for the Yankees at Fenway and wrote a humorous article. His findings were that he was ignored at Yankee Stadium while wearing a Red Sox shirt, but was the object of abuse at Fenway while wearing a Yankee shirt. I have never worn a Yankee shirt in my life, but I have observed the genuine hate reserved for those who do at Fenway Park.

I have this feeling that everyone is answering according to which team they like better...
Anyway, story: my brother, age 8 at the time, was wearing a Seattle Mariners hat at Yankee staduim when we went for a visit. He got booed and beer thrown at him. The Yankees were playing the Detriot Tigers.
From being at Fenway every summer for as long as I can remember, Sox fans heckling always seems good-natured. I've never been there during a Yankees game, but I have a feeling that the Stadium is upended when the Sox play there.

It's definitely harder for a Yankee fan to enjoy a game at Fenway. Red Sox fans have a lot more hate built up in them toward the Yankees than vice versa. Also, the place is so damn small that Yankees and Red Sox fans are shoulder to shoulder, so it's easy to see why things may erupt between them. Yankee Stadium seats about 20,000 more than Fenway Park and there are pockets of Red Sox fans scattered throughout who are free to yell obscenties like they do back in their dump.

Definitely tougher to root for the Red Sox in NY. Yankee fans are particularly the worst in the world. I Know this from personal experience--I like baseball in general and if any time I casually mention a flaw regarding the Yankees (to Yankee fans), I get close to physical blows. I never get such a heated response when talking about other teams.

Depends on whos winning
If the Yankees are winning and youre at Fenway as a Yankees fan, then you can enjoy yourself and laugh
If the Yankees are winning at the Bronx and your a Redsox fan, then you have a problem
Personally, as a DC native, I would go to the stadium where there is generally a larger percentage of drunk people. The more drunks to sober people, the funnier the chants.
Im not saying DC fans get drunk, but as a rule of thumb drunk fans will say funnier things than sober fans

Yankee fan could never ever feel 100% comfortable at Fenway park. If the Redsox are winning then Yankee fans will be upset. But if Bostons loseing then that yankee fan better shut up and not show themselves as a yankee fan.

For a red Sox fan to come to Fenway Park. Yankee fans are so aggresive and drunk they'll beat you down if you wear red to the stadium.
