Marriages are only legally enforceable in the countries where they take place and only if they were performed by someone with proper authority.

The drive-through's in Vegas aren't enforceable anywhere except in the state of Nevada. Many have found that out the hard way.

If you were married only in Bahrain, your marriage is recognized only in Bahrain. Also, if you want to bring you 62 wives here, you're going to have to have 61 marriages dissolved. No polygamy here.

(Look at the bright side, that's a lot less shoes you have to buy!)

Generally speaking, no they are not. However, it's more likely if both parties enter into the contract willingly, with no duress, and are both adults of legal capacity to enter into such a contract. It's quite unlikely to be enforced.
