ok how did the bank war help jackson increase the power of the presidency??? i may have some more questions later so.... keep helping!! THANK YOU!!

yes i think so Jackson did advance arguments for opposing the bank on Constitutional grounds as well --basically, that the Constitution did not provide for Congress to authorize such a national bank. In fact, the "Republican" party of Jefferson, Madison, etc., had made the same argument against Hamilton and the FIRST National Bank back in the 1790s. Then Madison, after letting it lapse, found that he NEEDED such an institution to finance the War of 1812 and ended up chartering the Second National Bank. The Supreme Court had also decided there was no Constitutional problem with it. Henry Clay's reponse to Jackson's veto of the bank's rechartering actually rehearses this whole history (explaining how he himself had at one time opposed the bank).
