Find the 17 digit VIN number stamped into the steering neck of the frame.

Count from left to right to the 10th digit. That's the year code.

Z = 2000
1 = 2001
2 = 2002
3 = 2003
4 = 2004
5 = 2005
6 = 2006
7 = 2007

If it's older than a 2000 go backwards on the alphabet from "Z". Keeping in mind that "O" and "Q" aren't used.

Y = 1999
X = 1998

Etc.

hey, well personally i would only get a kawasaki if i was racing, if your only going to go out a few times a month and not going to be jumping all you need is a CRF230-Honda. you can get a used one or a new one for about4grand and they do have power (dont let any1 tell u otherwise) im 16 and started riding wen i was 4 on a 80 2stroke suzuki. i moved up to a 125 4stroke when i was 9 and now im own a 230 2stroke and a 600CBR. go to dealerships and try out what you want, if your not wanting to spend much but want new so you dont have problems kawasaki is expensive and like i said before, i personally would only race them. the honda 230 is probly the way to go.

Go to - Owner Info - Parts Diagrams
Enter your vin# (stamped on the steering neck of the frame behind the forks & F number plate).

Should be stamped on the frame, in the front between the forks.
