David Beckham is still a great player and will certainly raise the profile of soccer in the States.

well, first i have to say even though beckham is gettin past his prime he still knows the game. granted hes not one of the best anymore, but he still knows a few things (uh hem, free kicks). But his move to the us is prolly for money. still, this will raise interest in soccer in the us and bring more faces to the world of soccer.

To me he's pretty good. He can play well sometimes with amazing free kicks. He will do well and bring up the standards of football in America. But he also has a great world outside of football. Happy family, role modeling, 'Hollywood', advertisements

most people in england feel becks(as he is called there affectionately) came to the US for money and to promote his and his wifes hollywood career. hes been a controversial choice for englands national team over the past decade almost as most think hes too slow to get past defenders, isnt the best finisher.. but is there to bring female fans into the stands which he does to perfection

The reason the MLS got him was more for his name than his skill, although he is a skilled player, if he was a no-name with the same skill they would never ever pay that much money for him.

I really don't think he can live up to the expectations that have been set for him. I mean, he's no Pele.
