No one can define "true" to any real satisfaction, and "love" is a mystery.

True love is very misunderstood, and despite the best efforts of philosophers through out the ages it still remains a mystery to most people.
True Love is one hundred percent dedication of the partners towards one another, and a commitment so strong that it goes for the life. It is the union of two souls which appears as two bodies to the world, but the partners feel themselves as one. True Love is not a one man show, but a team effort of trust, loyalty, security, dependability, love, emotions, dreams, aspirations, and commitments. Like life and death, True Love is a truth of nature. And like every truth, there are consequences associated with the path you decide to take. Just like life is led partly and partly it leads us; love is partly our effort and partly it dictates us - so be ready to expect the unexpected. There are essentially two qualities that are needed to see and feel the power of True Love in the lifetime:

1- the capacity to love
2- the right attitudes

additionally, true Love is unconditional. True Love is loving one another for all the good and the bad of each partner. It is also the intimacy, the trust, the capability to read each other, the dependability, the understanding, and the security each partner has for the other will make living a bliss. The union of two hearts, two bodies and two souls; acceptance by the world, the struggles of the past, and the secure future, increase the love between the two. Everyday feels safe, every night is romantic and erotic; and it'll feel like life will never cease giving pleasures. Love teaches you how to be positive about life, how to help, how to be compassionate, how to respect others, how to be polite, how to develop the right attitudes and how to advise others about the right way to live.

true love--noun. A condition that never happens to two people at the same time.

To give a more expansion definition, for me, true love is like a unicorn. Everyone talks about it, but I've never seen it except in pictures, nor have I encountered it in real life. Hypothetically, I believe that true love means you want to spend most of your time with that person. Also, you would donate a kidney or other organ to save that person's life. There are few things you wouldn't do for that person to ensure his/her happiness and personal security. Also, both people would feel secure in each other's love. Ideally, both should feel safe confiding in each other and empathize with one another in times of sorrow. I once read a quote that said, "Love is making someone's life a little easier," usually with warmth and laughter. Unfortunately, most of my SO's have just made it harder! If anyone spots the unicorn or knows where I can get one, let me know!

You could define true love as a legend. The legend goes that somewhere out there, there is someone who is meant for you, who loves you, and they are there for you to also love in return. This one true love is an eternal love and an unconditional love, burning greater than a thousand suns and existing forever.

Nice thought.

Now, when you try and fit that concept into the world we live in, most people realize how extremely rare and virtually impossible true love can be. To witness true love is remarkable and extraordinary, something you never forget.

The reality of the situation is that, when the time comes, and when we begin to hear our "biological clocks" ticking, the vast majority of us forego true love only to make an effort to find "someone" to love. There are many other things we need to do in this world besides find true love - survive, procreate, and live our own lives the best we can.

Yet, somehow, this ideal, this concept, this legend, if you will, of true love persists. To see two people who have found love for each other make an effort to continue for any length of time in their love is beautiful, and can still be unconditional and eternal, even if it isn't that one true love. We can only hope that our love for those around us shall, at some point, lead us to true love. I believe it has.

and thats my definition of true love
good luck in your search
and thanks for a great question

True love is deeper than just being "in love". True love loves no matter what, and true love is the reason that a relationship between two people who really love each other can overcome and get through anything. Even when you are really mad or they have really hurt your feelings...true love keeps you there, and true love brings them back to their durn senses too to apologize. True love is how marriges last...and the lack of is how they fail.

"Life isn't a love in, it's the dishes and the orthodontist and the shoe repairman and... ground round instead of roast beef. And I'll tell you something else: it isn't going to a bed with a man that proves you're in love with him; it's getting up in the morning and facing the drab, miserable, wonderful everyday world with him that counts."
This quote is from the movie, "Yours, Mine and Ours" (the older version starring Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball). Henry Fonda tells one of his daughters this when she is confused and isn't sure how far (sexually) she should go with her boyfriend.
I have always thought that this quote is a perfect description of true love between 2 people, romantically speaking. But actually, the whole idea applies to loving anyone....
Loving someone when things are going well and the person is "loveable" is easy....true love (to me anyway) comes into play when the crap hits the fan, and the other person may be acting anything but lovable!

no one can define true love. what one sees as "true" or as "love" another could see as something else. so true love is different for everyone.

I think it's something you have to experience, instead of defining it with words. You can express and experience some kinds of love....but, it's different when your in love with someone. It's hard to explain.

There is no such thing as true love.

Love is an adjective that has the power to stand alone, break hearts, sow up wounds, and alter the human heart in many different magical ways. Love is the closest thing we have to magic.
