We are working on a school paper. Most of the information we can find is hard for a 15 y.o. to understand.

We already know the why NAFTA would NOT want to include Colombia and why Columbia would NOT want to join NAFTA. Thanks...

First of all, NAFTA is an agreement -- it's not some group of people. NAFTA isn't capable of having any opinions or wants.

But if you are asking why signatories to the NAFTA pact would want to invite Columbia, it is because free trade is good for all parties involved. It would be good for current NAFTA members to add Columbia to the agreement, because that adds yet another export market where (say) American-made goods can be sold without protective tariffs being piled on to the price.

It would provide Columbia with access to more markets for its products. Maybe they make something there that the US needs and people in US would buy it. Also, maybe US has goods and services that Columbians would want. Columbia would have more jobs and US would have more jobs. Win-win situation.
