I'm on my 2nd period (7th grade) and it is SO INTENSE.. It bleeds through my pants at night, I had to wear 2 heavy pads to bed and change them every 5 hours! Use a heating pad to help relieve the pain, also take showers and baths, the period stops right away!! It feels soo good!!!! As for school, I go to the ladies room every hour and wear a light pad under a small pad. It sucks, but, every woman has to go trough it sometime!!! Good luck with the period at school!!

Since you're still young, I wouldn't recommend using tampons. Even the most slender tampons are hard to use before your body is fully mature.
For the cramps, I recommend Advil or Tylenol and warm baths. Also, kneeling with your knees and elbows on the floor and your butt in the air, so your head is lower than your back, can help with cramps. It relaxes your muscles and can help with minor cramps.
I wouldn't worry about bleeding through your pants. Make sure to wear a pad that is big enough to absorb the blood, but not so big that you feel uncomfortable. Your mom or another trusted person can help you when you go shopping for those kinds of things. Try buying the smallest pack of products to begin with, and use trial and error to find what's right for you. Wear dark pants when you have your period, and avoid white.
If you bleed very heavily, your cramps are unbearable or uncontrollable, or your period consistently lasts for more than a week, you can talk to your doctor about potential problems.
Finally, celebrate the event! I know it's probably the last thing you want to do, but starting your period also signals the start of your maturity, and that's a pretty cool thing. It can sometimes be a pain, but in the end, it's pretty cool. It means your body is healthy and I think health is one of the most-overlooked gifts.

let me start by saying i was the same age as you when i started too and it can be hard, but it is a natural part of getting older. do you bleed through your pads at home? if so then you need to try heavier flow pads, if not then you should have no problems wearing them at school just make sure you bring enough of them for the day.i would NOT recommend tampons as you just started getting your period, use pads for a few months till it gets regular. try to not wear anything light colored to school during your period though just in case, you may also want to keep an extra pair of pants and undies in your locker just in case, this helps save from embarassments of going to the nurse and having to call home. As for the cramping i would check the labels on the Midol and Pamprin first before i used them to make sure they dont have an age thing like 12 and up and if so have your mom or another adult check with a gynecologist to see if it is ok for you to take, also since you said you just started your period the cramping may get better its just right now your not used to it . in the meantime try alternating tylenol and ibuprofen for the pain, and heat packs for your stomach and/or back. IF the cramping doesnt ease up once you've had your periods regularly for a few months then you should go see a gynecologist they may give you medication to help it. hope this helps you honey cause i have a daughter almost your age who should be starting hers soon so let me know if this is any help to you.............................................................since you have bled through i would try using a heavier flow pad or even a different brand because some work better than others, they all claim to be the same but some DO work better than others .. hope this helps

If you can use a tampon then wear a tampon and a light pad. This will keep anything from seeping through to your pants. If tampons are not an option yet then use a pad that covers more area and wear baggy windsuit pants or something like that, also if the more often you change it the better.
As for the pain, Tylonol, Midol, help.
Also, a heating pad on the stomach will help. And taking a warm bath. But the opposite also works, going for a short walk helps. (just around the block nothing that takes too long).

I'm sorry, hun! Try taking Motrin or other ibuprofen and in the feminine care aisle, there are heat patches. They work wonderfully. You wear them on the outside of your underwear and they last for 6-8 hours and the heat is soothing and makes the cramps feel better.

I too am a heavy bleeder and I have found for my heaviest days, I use a super plus absorbancy tampon and also wear a pad, just in case.

Since you are now a "woman", have your mom take you to the OB/GYN and they may be able to help you further.

Take Ibupfrofen or Midol after breakfast each day you have your period to help with cramps. Also, wear dark colored pants in case you do leak, and keep a spare pair of underwear in your backpack. If you are using pads, wear absorbant ones and change regularly (at break or lunch). If you decide to wear tampons, wear a pantyliner with them.

Hope this helped.

Congratulations and good luck!!!

try using tampons AND wearing a pad. that should stop the bleeding through your pants. also, ..i knw this sucks, but exercise and moving around helps relive your cramps..i know that exercising is THE LAST THING anyone wants to do while on your period, but its just the way it workds. try having your mom buy your midol, which relieves cramps.... also, if you dont wear tampons, ask your mom how to use them. they dont hurt at all. you cant even feel them. she doesnt have to SHOW you..just tell you.... try visiting www.beinggirl.com they have a lot of information there. i hope i helped

if you're allowed to were tampons, then start using those with a pantiliner. otherwise, get the extra heavy,leak-guard pads and change occasionally. for the cramps, excercise a lot and take a tylenol or advil once in a while.
you can also use heating pads and take nice, hot showers.
also, were loose pants and cotton underwear.
congrats,and good luck!

Talk to your Mom, if you are only 11 and having that bad of bleeding, you might want to talk to your ped Dr. Start with taking some Advil or Midol for the bad cramping and a heating pad helps too, but please talk to your Mom or some other adult you can trust and feel comfortable talking to.
