no it doesn NOT mean you went through menopause, i had my cervix removed 6 years ago i still have my ovaries and uterus, and if your doctor is rushing it means he is overscheduling your dr. should have the time to address ALL your health questions that is what hes there for. the way they can tell if your going through menopause is if they take a blood test to check your hormone level, even if you dont have the night sweats, hot flashes, etc. when i had my hysterectomy it temporarily sent me into menopause and i was only 24, it shocked my ovaries from the surgery, but they started working again. Have your dr. check your hormone level and make him make time for you if he wants to rush off tell him your really concerned and want to know whats going on, if he wont listen CHANGE dr.'s . when dr.'s rush it only hurts the patient.

I had my uterus removed 17 years ago, and was told quite clearly that the uterus is NOT related to menopause. It's all about the ovaries. It is much harder to tell when menopause starts and finishes when uterus has been removed, even for doctors. Mine usually asked a lot of questions about hot flashes, night sweats and only now am I having those (at 53). So, now I am menopausal.

i had a partial hysterectomy only last Thursday and they told me as the ovaries are still there i will still get pmt and will go through the menopause maybe 1 year earlier than if i didn't have a hysterectomy they only remove the vehicle a baby is conceived and carried, on a partial and this does not bring menopause on only if its a total hysterectomy you would start the menopause immediately may be now you are going through the menopause, you dont state your age

Your ovaries are what cause you to have the monthly mood swings, hunger, breast tenderness, etc. (hormones)

Your uterus is the place for a fertilized to grow. (If the egg is not fertilized the uterus lining sheds causing your monthly bleeds.)

Since you had your uterus removed you have no more period, but you still have other "monthly" symptoms until you go thru menopause.

You defininitely need a more compassionate Dr. to talk with you about symptoms you may or may not be having. If you don't want a new Dr., call your Doc and let him/her know that you really didn't understand what he was saying about menopause and would like him to explain it more fully to you.
Good luck!
