I would like to become a clinical social worker specializing in mental health treatment of an adult population in a community treatment setting. I'm specifically interested in implementing Dialectial Behavioral Therapy, among other methods. I am currently a Literature Major with 9 credits left in my degree. My minor is in the social sciences with an emphasis on history and anthropology. At this time I do not have any internship or volunteer experience working with vulnerable populations. What steps should I take to reach my career goals?

It takes a masters degree. Grand Valley in Alendale, MI has social artwork classes. you're able to desire to attend finished time. it is quite complicated to bypass by using using the classes. The ironic element is that those persons that've Social artwork skills can no longer have sufficient money the educational and a few persons have getting to allure to close disabilities which could no longer enable us get the education mandatory. So, people who're quite no longer able to being a physically powerful social worker get the jobs. i'm upset because of the fact i could no longer bypass the economics type that grew to become required to strengthen good right into a social worker. those snobs who will turn their noses at those in want finished the type.

Your major and minor pretty much suck to get into this field easily. You are going to have to do some catchup. What you will need is a MSW . . . Masters in Social Work. Check into grad school requirements for this degree. You will learn a whole bunch of treatment/therapy modalities before you hit DBT.
