You can't really damage you sound card by doing a restore or recovering your PC, what could happen is that the driver either got corrupted or if you reinstalled your system that the sound card driver did not installed, the same applies with your printer, as previously mentioned go to your printer suppliers web site, type in your printers model and select download driver, install and test, for your sound card driver it will be the same way, go to your manufacturers web site (dell.com, hp.com, gateway.com, etc...) select support and the type in your systems model (it should be in the back or front of your systems), some manufacturers like dell and gateway allow you to type in your systems serial number and it will bring your systems specifications, download your audio or sound card driver it's the same thing but some vendors use different terminology and install, this should solve your problem. This will be the easiest thing to do if you don't have the original CD's for your printer and computer system. Hope it helps.

you may have damaged your sound cared depending upon what happened before you had to do a system recovery. as far as your printer goes you can do the whole website thing or go into your control panel and make sure it completely uninstalled and then plug it back in and it could have plug and play capabilities where you won't need to actually have the cd for it or go the website

You can go to the website of the company the printer is from.

I know these few sites:

www.hp.com
www.epson.com
www.dell.com
www.lexmark.com

I can't list them all, but these are the kinds most people use.

I don't know whats wrong with the sound, because you havn't given much details.

Good luck!

Can't help with the sound, but for the printer, the driver is probably on the manufacturer's website. Just go there and search for "printer drivers"...see if you can find one that matches your model and download.
