This happens to my iPod a lot and its a minor problem. Just reset it. To do this just put it on hold, take it off of hold, and then hold the center button and top buttons for about 5 seconds. The apple logo will appear and your iPod will turn on. Dont worry, nothing will change about your iPod. All the same music and settings will still be there. Do this when you encounter other iPod problems as well because it works for most problems.

It may just need a new battery. I have heard of people that get new electronics and the batteries are either not charged or some of them have batteries that do not work. Even if they are chrged for a long time they will not work. I would ask your friend where he got it and then go to that store or person and ask them what has happened to your iPod.

Hope this helps.

This just happened to me with my new iPod. Check the little Hold button on top of the iPod - you probably slid it to the locked side. Slide it back over and all will be well. Tell me if this works for you!

I feel bad asking this, but it always trips me up- is the lock on? If the lock at the top is on (showing red), no button you press will do anything. I hope that's it, because it's the easy fix.
