Yup. It happened before. Two years ago. It happens like every few years or something like that. I have only seen it snow in Egypt like 4 times or something during my entire life time.People get so happy when they see the snow here because it is something unusual. I am not quite sure about the cold and hot part though. Don't wanna give you false information. Will it help if I say :never too hot and never too cold ? Nahh. I don't think that will help.

Even in the last ice age the ice shelf never got as far as Egypt.
It does get quite chilly overnight,to the point of being uncomfortable in the desert.
It has been this way since Pharonic times.According to the information they have left us.
Actually Egypt's climate pattern has hardly altered at all,in the last 7.000 yrs.
The average temperatures are, between 38c in summer in Cairo and in mid winter 18C.
In Luxor and Aswan its hotter in summer with 42C average in Summer and 20C in Winter.
Last July, I was at the Valley of The Kings and it hit 54C. True.!
That is partly due to the geographical features of the Valley.
But I can tell you it was sure hot!

By the way Egyptians do love a joke!
addit 2min later: They have a rainy sleet occasionally,in Lower Egypt Cairo ,Alexandria to the Suez Canal.

It does snow in Egypt but that is so rare and when it happens, it happens in limited places like Sinai peninsula, North coast and Cairo (the latter is very very rare)

The hottest temp. may be 45 Celcius and it occurs in July or August.
