Private health care in the United States means that 47 million out of 300 million has no access to afordable health care. Is that what you want for your country.

Health care is privatized. The high costs of heath care are preventing lower income people from obtaining health care. When government functions are privatized, it costs taxpayers more because investors are in business to make a profit. The people actually doing the work are paid less (and often do without heath insurance) while the taxpayers pay more for less service so someone can make a profit. When you start working and get out into the real world , you may learn critical and complex thinking rather than blindly believing everything you hear from your parents.

I assume you are in Canada...

Look at America, where so many people have no health care because it is too expensive. Many companies don't provide healthcare to their employees anymore especially on the lower pay scales. Plus more and more people are self-employed or working for agencies and don't get benefits either.

Then even when you do get benefits, you only save money if you go to certain doctors, and the amount that the health plan pays for is always complicated and very difficult to figure out. I personally have had to fight with the health care company because they completely got my benefits wrong and almost wouldn't pay nearly as much as they were supposed to!

Then there's the cases when the health plan decides that your medical emergency isn't covered for whatever reason, because it ran in your family, because you had it before coverage, because your treatment turned out to be too experimental or too expensive... This can affect people very badly! when they go in for a treatment and they think it will be covered by insurance but then the insurance changes its mind or decides it made a mistake.

Medical emergencies are the number one cause of people going bankrupt in the US, even with all our HMOs and PPOs and other health insurance. Maybe taxes would go down without

The conservatives in Canada (and the US) will tell you all these horror stories about people who got mixed up in the Canadian system... usually it is puffball stuff like having to wait a few months for non-urgent treatment or long lines at the doctors office, or they couldn't get their cosmetic surgery covered by SIN... I'm positive I can come up with at least one true horror story from the US healthcare system for every story you can dig up about the Canadian system.

I think someday the US will wake up, but it may take lots of pain and suffering before people realize that it is in our best interest to go that route. Technically we already have one, Medicare and Medicaid, but it is not very good and only used for certain people. But some states are already starting single-payer plans for children and seniors. I hope the Harper government up there doesn't scuttle the system just to benefit corporate greed!

they could do it so as that the enormous insurance corporation's and drug corporation's of their united states could make the Billion dollar revenue like they do in this united states! Having to look ahead to scientific care is the possibility that's usually used yet in reality it fairly is not the case while drawing close care is critical. 40 million human beings plus in this united states without wellness care is a countrywide shame and we desire a countrywide wellness care equipment now! we don't seem to have a undertaking offering wellness care in Iraq!

Good question Jon.
It seems amazing to me that Congress does not participate in the system. i.e.. they dont pay into social security they have their own private benefit plans... yet many don't want the citizens to have the same opportunity.

And as to answermans 'answer' . Socialized healthcare will mean everyone has poor quality healthcare until we go bankrupt from trying to pay for the ones who dont contribute money to pay for it then no one will be.

If that is true, why not privatize the military too?
