It's NOT about keeping us safe! It's about the oil and the oil business.

First of all Montana is not in the middle of no where. It happens to be one of the top 3 biggest states, next to Alaska and Texas. Now how is the war in Iraq keeping them safe. The same as it would keep someone in NY or LA safe. If we are truly going to call our selves the "United States" then were you live should not be an issue. There are more service members form states like MT over seas then you can imagine. Yes they may activate a unit from Ft. Bragg, But the men and women that make up that unit is from all over.

Well the next time, Joe Public from MiddleofNowhere, Montana, goes on vacation to wherever.. well maybe you will feel more comfortable that you and the kids aren't going to have your flight hijacked by some nut.
Or while you are sightseeing in some tall building someone doesnt try and blow it up.
Or that if you or your kid is in the military some nut doesnt bomb the embassy your stationed at or the ship your stationed on or whatever.
Maybe you know someone from Iraq who left because of Saddam ( I personally know someone who left Iran after the Shah was removed and the Ayatollah moved on in )
And maybe they are even related to you .. who knows.
And maybe you or the person you know wants to go back and visit family there but you were afraid to before.

First off, sir, this war is for all of America. Don't just cherry pick and choose individual people who this war may not protect. It's the essence of it. America needs to protect their liberties and freedoms. This war is just as much for keeping Montana safe as it is the people in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. In fact, the war is currently about stabilizing Iraq and breaking up the Civil War and previously was about removing a tyrant from power who persecuted the Kurds and killed thousands.

I live in the middle of nowhere Montana, my husband is military, protecting all the country. Look at it this way, if the top cities are defended securely, where might the terrorists attack next? That's right, some small back town that believes they aren't a part of this, have lax security and believe that this could never happen to them. They don't care where they hit, as long as they can hit. I doubt they distinguish between a New Yorker and a Montanan, we're all still infidels.

that is a very typical way of taking one subject and confusing it with another to get people to debate when there is no cause and effect.
how about this...
if a person lives in podunct how is a technology treaty with Israel helping them financially?
How does Nasa spending a billion dollars repairing the hubble telescope help Joe Dirt in the middle of nowhere montana?
how does the US protesting nuclear advancement in Tehran effect joe surfer in hawaii?
how does the war in iraq help someone living in montana?
well, it doesn't directly help him does it? and you already know that answer.
The correct question to ask is why were we at war with Iraq from 1990 to 2003? and why are we at war with terrorists in Iraq today?
and if you say oil, then you better not drive a car, nor buy cd's nor pc's, nor ziplock baggies. no plastics
and if you say to make bush rich, can you prove it? no you can't can you.
so, why are we at war?
and it's not because the iraqi government has WMDs. They clearly do not. And we clearly are not at war with the iraqi government are we? we are fighting terrorists in iraq today.
why is that?

We weren't worried about being kept safe. We've got plenty of missiles stored away. Plus we have grizzlies.
"If Montana were to secede from the union to become its own sovereign nation (and don't push us, man, we'll do it), we would instantly become the world's fourth-largest (known) nuclear power. Innocuous white concrete bunkers sprouted in fields and valleys across 23,000 acres of central Montana contain some 200 Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles equipped with nuclear warheads and watched over by 55 "missileers" of the Air Force's 341st Space Wing. Don't mess with Texas? We've got two words for the lone star state. ****. You."

I live in the middle of nowhere, and 9-11 still affected me. If we are attacked anywhere, it will affect all of us. Look at what happened to the stock market, airline industry, etc after we were attacked. Yes, no suicide bomber will probably ever come to my house, and if they did, they wouldn't make it close enough before the dog would munch on them. Probably the dog would die in the blast, too bad I love my dog, but oh well...
But my kids may live in a place that is a target, or someone else I know, so see, any of us could be affected.

On September 11, 2001, two buildings housing 50,000 workers were destroyed.
Over the next 3 days, the entire airline industry was grounded and our economy lost 1/5 of it's capital value.
That was one attack. What do you think would happen if we became pacifists, stopped hunting down terrorists and just let them build their industry?
(Oh and by the way, let's just throw in the added bonus that terror organizations worldwide are only interested in destroying two countries: Israel and the US.)
As a resident in Montana, you will be among the last to die, if that comforts you.

It's emboldened the Montana Militia. I've heard that an al Qaeda cell in MiddleofNowhere was successfully busted up by them. ;-)

Have you not watched "Heros" on TV. We here in Montana will only get a little cloud of bad radiation. It will dissipate and then we will go back to fishing.
