Bought my Corsa a week ago, seems to be fine, last couple of days the exhaust seems to vibrate a lot and make a sqeaky noise. I have little money to get it fixed. Reckon it's alright? How much would the repair roughly be? The car seems to be running fine though, is it just gonna conk out on me?

Hi, sounds like the flexible joint. This is a metal or composite ring between the front and center pipes held in place by 2 springs on bolts. The lads at your local tyre and exhaust center should be able to sort it out in 5 minutes.

Could be a broken hanger or loose heat shield, should be a simple fix at most mufflershops. If a broken hanger is not fixed the exhaust will usually break after a while due to flex. If a shop gives you a stupid quote take it somewhere for a second opinion or bring someone with you and ask them to show you the problem, most places wont rip you off if they think you might be able to catch them in the act.

From what you said it sounds like an exhaust leak. Your car won't quit on you or anything like that. You do need to get it fixed, though. If you don't you could get exhaust gasses inside the car and that is poisonous. Be sure to keep fresh air inside the car and get it fixed as soon as possible. As for what it cost - just depends on exactly what is leaking or wrong. It may be pretty cheap (like fifty bucks) or a few hundred.

Any exhaust centre will look at your car and tell you exactly what the fault is. And they wont charge you a penny unless you decide to go ahead with the work.
Take your car there, get a quote and then shop about at every other exhaust centre in your area to see who'll do the job cheapest. Easy Peasy!!
