or do you think it will be an inherited problem for the next President?

This war has become such a mess because of Bush, and there does not appear to be a quick fix. I think the next President is going to have his/her hands full with it.

I seriously doubt we'll be out before Bush leaves office.

they have made such a mess of this that it will take years to get back to some semblance of stability.

btw folks-- recent reports indicate that Bush and crews initial request for "war power" was for the entire region. Iraq was supposed to be the "easy" war and as a jumping off point to topple, domino-style all unsavory regimes in the region. Think about it....

It will def be the next president's problem. There is no way Iraq would succeed in any western sense if all US troops left by next year. after the majority of non-Iraqi forces leave there is no telling what will happen. there are so many factions hoping to get power and are waiting in the shadows until we leave to make their move. I think without outside help (UN or NATO) Iraq will fall into more extensive chaos after we withdraw. the future of Iraq is still up in the air and i believe we have very little control over it.

The mess is mostly due to a lot of people here at home not supporting the effort and pointing the finger at our troops as soon as they mess up. It can't be easy to fight a war while walking on eggs because you have to worry about all the traitors at home who won't give you a break. And all that so that their sorry behinds can remain free to bash America for one more day.
Half of the battle is political and the civilians are losing it while the soldiers are winning their battles.

Bush won't pull the troops out,he enjoys war too much. The next President will be left to clean up his mess.

If Bush can go out of office without "losing" in any definition the Dems may get the blame. The real end game now is HOW TO BLAME THE DEMS.

They won´t, they already lost surprise effect, and victory seems achieved. So there can be peace somehow without them in America at large. Bush is bound to claim he won the war himself, his bravery is similar to his patriotism and that of all americans alike, no doubt.

It gets dumped in the lap of the next President. He's already stated as much but in a "kinder" way.

troops will stay there for atleast 3 more years, irrespective of who is the president. Count may be reduced year after year.
