My example is when Roby Baggio missed the penalty kick in 1994 finals against Brazil and Italy didn't win the World Cup, did his fans hold it against him or support him?
If you can give me an example of where your favourite soccer player dissapointed you and what was your reaction and did you keep supporting him?

of course they would forgive him! its a penalty kick! and thats football..plus what kind of a fan will u be if u support a player only when he is good?!
an example is Luis Figo, when he was playing with Real Madrid in the Champions League against Juve 3 years ago, he missed a decisive penalty .....then Juve won that match, if he had scored this penalty things would have been different....but Real lost and was knocked out of the champions league! but of course that didnt affect my admiration for Figo at all! Everyone makes mistakes........

Nice question Juventina. You wouldn't be much of a fan if you didn't. Be honest about the player sure, but of course I would forgive the players I follow. It's the non fans that are less than forgiving. We don't walk in their shoes or have their pressures. Baggio did far more for Italy and the game of football that warrants remembering than an incident that could happen to anyone. Same for Trez in the WC Final. It happens and it is not intentional on their part and the disappointment and guilt they carry themselves is punishment enough.

Oh sorry, I didn't give an example because although I may be disappointed for them, I'm not disappointed in them and I see a difference.

Well, the whole England squad during the World Cup. I truthfully expected more of them, but they just didn't show. But, I'm not going to hold it against them because I know I couldn't have done any better...And I know that if I were them, I would want people to forgive me because I didn't completely succeed. So, I am going to forgive and forget, and hope that England will be on it the next time around :)

Well, of course it's hard but life goes on I guess...the same happened with Trezeguet when he missed the penalty which might have cost the world cup for France. Now of course he wasn't the only deciding factor in the game for France but still. You have even said that players make mistakes, like humans do because they are humans, but we have no choice to forgive. Like if someone's parents wants his kids to be successful, even if they are not successful kids the parents will still care and love them.

sweetpan...- i dont think the whole england squad didnt show.. rooney and owen were injured; thus england had a hard time scoring goals.. gerrard had a good wc.. hargreaves wasnt used enough.. lampard had a poor WC.. thats pretty much it.
Kasper and andygurl are right... its easy to say i would have made that penalty since i made all my penalty shots for my youth under 8 team but its just a tad different when 2 billion people are watching you...

yes, in the majority of cases,i remember that day very well sitting in a cafe in little Italy. it hurt to see Italy lose like that but that's the way the game is ,you lose some you win some,i never held a grudge against Baggio, his great positive contibutions to Italy far out weigh that one missed pk.

ITALIA PER SEMPRE !!!

Michael Ballack kinda disappointed me when he announced he was leaving Bayern Munich to go play with Chelsea. I thought I would be seeing him play with his fellow Germans for a while longer but I guess not. What I did is that I had to go after Chelsea, which was already a team I liked in England. But when Ballack went with them, it just gave me an extra reason to like Chelsea better!!!

Yeah of course I would still support them everyone makes mistakes.
Just like when Zaccardo scored in his own net..
that was upsetting to some fans!
I felt so bad for him.. so much pressure was on him especially cause it was his first year in WC!
