It can be done. Rather than setting unrealistic goals, consider studying really hard for your sat or act. Those score will play a more important role than your GPA. In addition, you may consider padding your gpa by taking some elective courses you are confident you'll get an A out of. In addition, a 3.0 GPA isn't good enough to get into many schools anyway. So rather than stressing so hard on your gpa, just do your best and study hard for the SAT/ACT. You can take the PSAT in may to see how you would do without studying then many places offer study courses to do well on the SAT/ACT. If you do well on that, you can often get into many schools that wouldn't otherwise consider students with lower than a 3.5 gpa.

Yes - I'll try to make it easy as 1, 2 3.
First - when you write a paper for class
Outline - in 3 steps.
1. Tell them what you're going to tell them.
I'm going to show you how to write a great paper.
2. Tell them.
You too can write a great paper with the 1,2,3 Plan of Action.
3. Tell them what you told them
In summary, when you plan your work with the 1,2,3 Plan of Action you have already started the paper. You just add 1 sentence to each of the 3 sections. Then you add 1 more sentence. Again and Again.
Before you know it, you have written the paper.
When you do your papers, if the teachers asks for 3 page minimum, do 6 pages. Do at least 2 to 10 pages of each paper unless they have a maximum and don't go over the maximum.
Outline:
1. Get 3 x 5 index cards.
2. For each chapter that you don't understand that well, write a question from 1/2 to a full page on one side of the index card, and write the answer on the other side.
3. Now you have study guides when you have to do a quick review for that chaper.
Repeat this for any subject that you have c's in, and then work on the b's.
I did this outline w/index cards for my friends who were at Boston University and they were flunking Accounting. Since this was my specialty, I took them from F's to B+ and they were truely amazed!
If they tried harder, I know they would have gotten at least some A's.
Don't forget to ask the teacher where you have the c's for help in getting the grades to b+ or a's. The teacher will admire your courage, and may give you extra credit work to do.
Don't forget to complete all of your assignments on time. Teachers hate procrastinators.
Don't forget your spiritual development. Ask GOD to bless you in all of your assigments - now and always.
GOD bless us always.

Study, Study, Study. Actaully, not only studying but the little assignments that you probably don't turn in are the ones that hurt you the most. Althought homework may be worth like 10 points you really are missing a lot of your grade if you only seldomly turn it in. If you are studying and doing all your work, try getting one-on-one help from a teacher or think about hiring a tutor.

yeah man, there's always time. just put some more effort behind your work and you're straight. it might help if you get someone to hold you accountable if you slack off if you're serious about getting that gpa up.
