Yes. She was born in 1944 and is still living. Alice Walker was (and still is) a feminist, environmentalist, animal rights activist and civil rights activist. Her most recent works include: Now is the Time to Open Your Heart (2004) and Collected Poems (2005). The Color Purple made its Broadway premier December 1, 2005 and Ms. Oprah Winfrey is one of the producers of the show.

Today Alice Walker’s novels are published in several different languages and she continues to produce novels, short stories and poetry from her ranch in Northern California.

well, not that wikipedia should be the source of all answers, but it is usually kept up to date and they only have a birthdate for Alice Walker, so i'd say the answer is yes.
